Manor Solomon was a key player for Leeds United last season. The Israeli international scored 10 and assisted 12 more in 39 Championship games for the Whites, including the goal that won Leeds the Championship title on the final day of the season.
Going into this summer’s transfer window, widespread reports confirmed that Leeds United want to re-sign Solomon from Spurs, but on a permanent basis this time.
And at first it looked like an Elland Road return was very much on the cards of the 25-year-old Solomon. But then Spurs sacked Ange Postecoglou and hired Thomas Frank, and Solomon has now been given a second chance in North London.
This week, Solomon posted a picture in pre-season training with Spurs. It’s seemingly put an end to any Leeds hopes of an immediate deal for the winger and so Daniel Farke is understandably looking elsewhere, with Nice winger Jeremie Boga on his radar.
In an all too familiar story this summer, Sunderland have joined Leeds United in the race for Boga, who has a growing list of suitors in Europe after an apparently impressive 2024/25 season in Ligue 1, where he scored once and assisted once in 21 games for Nice.
There has also been links to Turkish outfit Trabzonspor. But recent reports revealed how Trabzonspor had pulled out of the race to sign Boga this summer, seemingly leaving Leeds United and Sunderland to battle it out, with the former having a £13million bid already on the table for the former Chelsea man.
However, reports coming on Turkey seem to suggest that Trabzonspor have done a U-turn on Boga. Taka report that Trabzonspor are back ‘in contact’ with Nice but that they are ‘also in contact with alternative players’ right now.
Boga’s stats from last season certainly won’t blow you away. But the fact that there are so many teams interested, and even a bid on the table from Leeds United, should tell us that there’s more to his game than goals and assists.
And now with the Solomon door shut for the time being, Boga could become a prime target, potentially along with Feyenoord’s Igor Paixao who’s been linked with Leeds United this summer, following a very impressive showing in the Eredivisie last time round.
The Brazilian winger scored 16 and assisted 10 more in 34 league games for Robin van Persie’s side, and he too has multiple suitors around Europe right now.
And despite a desperate need for wingers this summer, there are very few linked with a move to Elland Road right now, with Boga and Paixao looking like the two main targets in that area.
As ever though, expect Farke and Leeds United to be working on a number of potential deals behind the scenes, for names we may not have heard of just yet.
