Dolphins LT Terron Armstead retires after 12 NFL seasons
One of the NFL’s best left tackles has announced his retirement.
Terron Armstead is calling it a career on Saturday after 12 NFL seasons between the New Orleans Saints and Miami Dolphins, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
The Arkansas–Pine Bluff standout made his name as a three-time All-SWAC recipient.
Armstead was a third-round pick of the Saints in the 2013 NFL Draft. He went on to be a five-time Pro Bowler with one selection as a second-team All-Pro with 131 starts over the course of his career.
Coming out of UAPB, he was thrown into the mix by protecting Drew Brees and consistent top ten offenses over nine years.
Two years ago, Armstead traded NOLA for South Beach, signing a five-year, $75 million deal with the Dolphins. The contract was worth up to $87.5 million, with $43.3 million in guaranteed money. He dealt with a few injuries since inking the big deal, missing 13 games for Miami. Despite the setbacks, Armstead was ranked the 83rd-best player in the NFL Top 100 for 2023.
The Dolphins could delay processing the retirement until after June 1. That would split the cap charge between the next two seasons, with $7.3 million hitting the books this year and $10.7 million applying to 2026.

The Buffalo Bills’ offense was one of the best in football last season, averaging 30.9 points per game as Josh Allen and Joe Brady led the team to a 13-4 record and an AFC Championship appearance.
With an “everybody eats” mantra, the Bills had a host of weapons who all had their lick of the ice cream at various stages throughout the season.
One player who did was receiver Mack Hollins.
He would total just 378 yards from 31 receptions, but such was Allen’s fondness for No. 13, he led the Bills in receiving touchdowns (five).
Now a member of the New England Patriots after signing a two-year deal, Sports Illustrated’s Ryan Phillips has named Hollins as the Bills’ biggest offseason loss.
“Mack Hollins isn’t just a colorful guy who arrives at games barefoot, he also developed into a key part of the Buffalo Bills’ passing attack in 2024,” Phillips writes.
“Hollins caught 31 passes for 378 yards and a team-high five receiving touchdowns.
The New England Patriots signed the 31-year-old to a two-year, $8.4 million deal.
While the Bills have enough depth to survive, Hollins will be missed.”
Hollins and his five touchdowns will be missed, but the hope is that Keon Coleman improves from a Bills perspective and Josh Palmer, who was signed in free agency, can pick up the slack.
Not to mention Khalil Shakir, Dalton Kincaid, and Dawson Knox as well.
So there are ample players capable of replacing Hollins’ production next season, and there is a thought that the Bills could look to add another weapon in the draft to help further the cause of covering for Buffalo’s “biggest” offseason loss.
