‘Unstoppable’ Tottenham Star Injured, Could Miss Rest of Season     Ange Postecoglou says it is too early to tell whether Lucas Bergvall will miss the rest of the season after being absent from Tottenham Hotspur’s 3-1 win over Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League.

The Swedish midfielder joined captain Heung-min Son on the sidelines for Spurs’ semi-final first leg on Thursday night, having picked up an ankle injury in training.

Bergvall was seen on the bench with crutches and his foot in a protective boot as Spurs took a big step towards the Europa League final with a comfortable home win.

Postecoglou said after the game that Tottenham will continue to assess the 19-year-old over the next few days, ahead of Spurs’ trip to West Ham on Sunday.

Postecoglou, speaking in the post-match press conference, said the injury is ‘hugely disappointing’ for Bergvall, who could now miss the rest of the season with an ankle injury:

“It’s hugely disappointing for Lucas. He had a big week resigning with the club and he’s had such a great year for us.

‘It’s just the way our season’s gone, where in training something innocuous like that ends up with him hurting his ankle.

“We’ll just assess, over the next few days and let it settle down and we’ll find an extent of sees an opportunity for someone else.”

Bergvall penned a new six-year contract with Spurs earlier this week amid an impressive debut campaign in North London, registering 45 appearances and five goal contributions.

The ‘unstoppable’ 19-year-old initially signed a five-year deal after an £8.5m move from Swedish side Djurgarden last year, but Spurs were eager to reward him with improved terms following his meteoric rise under Postecoglou.

The Swedish starlet has become a regular in Spurs’ first XI in recent months, with 27 Premier League appearances to date, including 11 starts.
