Andy Roddick, a former Wimbledon finalist, joined the chorus of praise for Jannik Sinner following the Italian’s first Wimbledon crown.

Jannik faced Carlos Alcaraz in the title clash and earned a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 victory in three hours and four minutes.

Roddick admitted he did not expect Sinner to deliver such a dominant performance against the two-time defending champion, who entered the duel with 20 straight wins at the All England Club.

The American could not give a strong edge to neither player before the final. However, he was left impressed by Jannik’s precision, composure and tactical control throughout the match, especially after the opener.

What stood out most for Roddick was how Sinner handled the crucial moments, especially after the heartbreaking of losing the Roland Garros final to Alcaraz five weeks earlier.

Andy noted another strong moment of the Wimbledon title clash.

The Italian led 4-3 in the fourth set and stood two games from lifting his first trophy at the All England Club.

However, Carlos made one last push and generated two break points that could have turned the tables.

Jannik kept his composure under pressure and executed with maturity beyond his years.

Roddick highlighted that those around world no. 1 – especially coach Darren Cahill – understood the weight of that moment, recalling the Paris disappointment and drawing strength from that setback.

With his latest triumph, Jannik not only claimed his maiden Wimbledon trophy but also further solidified his status among the sport’s elite. Andy, a fan of both young guns, could not have been more impressed.

I did not see things so clearly in Jannik’s favor on grass; I have to admit that. He played a very tactical match.

He dominated from the middle of the court and played with depth and precision.

With the Roland Garros final outcome in his head and a 15-40 on his serve while standing two games away from the Wimbledon trophy, Jannik was as decisive as can be.
