As everyone knows, Jannik Sinner decided to break off his professional relationship with his fitness coach Marco Panichi and his physiotherapist Ulises Badio just before the Wimbledon Championships.

The world number 1 made a very strange choice on the eve of such an important tournament, considering that Panichi and Badio had been fundamental for him during the three-month ban from February to May and their work had been really efficient.

Marco and Ulises had joined the Italian ace’s team in September 2024 – immediately after the US Open – because Jannik had been forced to remove Umberto Ferrara and Giacomo Naldi from their respective roles due to their responsibility in the controversial doping case that had seen Sinner as a protagonist.

New details on Sinner’s strange decision

In his first press conference at the Championships, the 3-time Grand Slam champion had not wanted to reveal the exact reason for his decision to part ways with Panichi and Badio, but the rumor had immediately circulated that the world number 1 was not too satisfied with the excessive number of interviews given by Panichi to the media.

According to reports from ‘Il Corriere della Sera’ – one of the main Italian magazines – the Italian champion would have been particularly angry because of the secrets revealed by Marco regarding what happened in the locker room after the epic Roland Garros final against Carlos Alcaraz.

In particular, Novak Djokovic’s former fitness coach had confided to the media that the world number 1 had cried for about 15 minutes after his painful defeat in Paris and that he had been upset by the crowd’s support totally in favor of Alcaraz. Badio – on the other hand – would have been only a ‘collateral victim’.

For the moment, Jannik has not replaced these two figures in his team and is focused only on Wimbledon.

The 23-year-old from Sesto Pusteria was dominant in the first two rounds and did not lose a single set, waiting to face Spanish ace Pedro Martinez tomorrow.
