Predicted: Potter makes 3 changes for Brighton after decision on Fullkrug outburst

Graham Potter returns to the club where he really made his name as West Ham take on Brighton in the Premier League – and he’s making changes.

It is a meeting of two sides in woeful form when West Ham face Brighton at the Amex.

Graham Potter is feeling the heat at West Ham already after just three wins in his first 14 games,

His old club Brighton, who have been in the race for a European place all season, have dropped off of late, failing to win any of their last six matches.

On paper it is a good time for West Ham to be facing Brighton.

Potter not impressed by angry Fullkrug rant

But the Hammers were lucky not to be beaten by already relegated Southampton at home last weekend, being booed off after a 1-1 draw.

A man Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler will know all about is his German compatriot, West Ham striker Niclas Fullkrug.

After the draw with Southampton last weekend, Fullkrug blasted the Hammers in a TV rant which went viral.

The big striker, who has missed most of the season through injury, labelled the team “s—” and said half the players aren’t listening to Potter’s tactics.

Fullkrug also questioned the mentality and attitude of his teammates in the explosive rant.

But his manager saw things differently.

West Ham boss Potter criticised Fullkrug’s rant during an incredible exchange with a reporter in his pre-Brighton press conference.

All eyes will be on the Hammers team at the Amex to see whether the striker’s honesty will cost him his place in the side.

We predict Potter will make three West Ham changes for Brighton after a big decision on the Fullkrug outburst.

If truth be told, Potter could make 10 or 11 changes to the side which failed to beat Southampton.

Very few played well bar perhaps Lucas Paqueta.

The first and most obvious change for the Hammers will be at right-back.

Soon to be crowned Hammer of the Year Aaron Wan-Bissaka is back after missing the Saints shambles with a toe injury.

He will replace Vladimir Coufal in change number one for West Ham.

Change two will surely see Tomas Soucek come back into the side for what looks set to be one of his last handful of appearances for West Ham.

Potter has frozen Soucek out of the starting XI of late and has reportedly decided to sell the big Czech fan favourite this summer.

But West Ham have won just one of the eight games Soucek hasn’t started this season.

So he will surely come back in for this one in place of James Ward-Prowse – who has been very poor and offered little since being made a regular starter by Potter after returning from his disastrous loan spell at Forest.

The other change will see young Ollie Scarles come back into the starting XI at left-back.

Both he and Emerson Palmieri have struggled when starting in the last couple of months.

Potter keeps chopping and changing between the two after starting Emerson last time out.

But he was subbed off and looks set to make way for the Academy graduate against Brighton.

That means Fullkrug keeps his place up front following his big outburst.

Not that Potter has too much choice.

Wan-Bissaka, Soucek and Scarles back in for West Ham at Amex?

Evan Ferguson, who has not registered a shot on target for West Ham let alone a goal since joining on loan from Brighton in the January window, is not allowed to play against his parent club.

Sat 17th in the Premier League going into the game, West Ham are battling to avoid finishing the season as the worst team outside the bottom three.

But a win for the Hammers could lift Potter’s side up to 13th.

Especially as Spurs face Liverpool, Man United are against Bournemouth and Everton go to Chelsea.

Wolves also have Leicester, who may be driven on by the emotion of Jamie Vardy announcing he is leaving the club.
