West Ham have already effectively sealed Premier League survival this season, leaving them with very little left to play for aside from confidence and momentum.

However, results and performances will still be crucial ahead of the final run-in, with their encounter with Wolves providing them with an excellent chance to take all three points.

With that in mind, Potter has named his starting XI in a bid to achieve just that, though he appears to have made it far harder than it needs to be.

West Ham name starting 11 for Wolves clash

Dating back to their 1-0 win against Arsenal, West Ham have utilised a back five formation, which has brought some success, though it has also provided some concern.

Potter’s style of play has severely limited the attacking threat posed by the Irons with such a defensive lineup, and he appears to have done the same against Wolves.

It has been an uneventful campaign for West Ham.Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Oliver Scarles have made the team, with a back three of Konstantinos Mavropanos, Max Kilman and Aaron Cresswell providing more defensive security than may be needed.

In a clash like the one against Arsenal, it was effective, but in a game like this one, where the emphasis may be on the Hammers to take the game to their opponents, West Ham simply don’t need to be so defensive.

Potter will be hoping that Evan Ferguson can change that, having been named in his attacking lineup from the start.

West Ham need to win their remaining games

While quite literally nothing can be achieved this season, it is still imperative that the Hammers find form ahead of the final run-in and end the season on a high.

After what was a dismal start to the campaign, they need to finish strongly to showcase that there will be cause for optimism in the summer.

There will be plenty of work to do for West Ham when that time arrives, though, for now, the only focus will be on making improvements on the pitch.
